"My perfect day: meditation, time with friends and family, observation of nature, painting time in the studio, writing and enough solitude as my creative and spiritual energy demands. For me the observation of nature reveals a union of power, mystery, indifference and a pervasive reassuring sense of the Divine. I attempt to express these beliefs in my art. I am grateful my life today allows such creative space and freedom." |
Early in life I had the opportunity with my family to travel and live in many cultural centers of Europe and the United States. This exposure contributed to a passion for fine art and in particular, many genres of painting. In continuation of this interest I obtained my B.A. in Art History from the University of California at Santa Barbara, followed by my M.A. Studio Art at California State University at Sacramento.
Collage-making has been a compelling interest for many years, combining various mediums and materials - some found, some created – in interesting and rich combinations. Collage is often found in my oils and watercolors. Recently, manipulation of a variety of flexible painted materials has led to what I call, “weavings.” This process combines painted materials, collage, mark-making in a textural treatment suggestive of basket-weaving. I enjoy writing and am a published poet. |
